A Journey through the Hudson River Valley
September 21 - 26, 2018
One of our all time favorite journeys! Due to popular demand, this has become an annual mainstay of our repertoire.

Join us as we delve deeper into the Hudson River Valley to discover why this region is home to so many great authors, musicians, early captains of industry, and the Hudson River School of art.
We are setting out on the fourth annual departure to immerse ourselves in picturesque vistas along the Hudson River Valley and explore the area’s historical past, rich with architectural, cultural, artistic, and botanical sites.

We have engaged the Hudson River Valley's top guide, Dr. Jeff Behnke, to share his knowledge of local history and folklore, and will visit some of the area's most inspirational gardens and elegant estates, including  the homes of Washington Irving, Frederick Church, Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt, and Richard H. Jenrette’s Edgewater estate.

Along the way we will also stroll through Bellefield Gardens with the Beatrix Farrand Society (honoring the only founding female member of the American Society of Landscape Architects), visit the iconic Rockefeller landmark, Kykuit, and the Federalist architecture of Boscobel, and then enjoy a private cruise along the Hudson River’s winding waters to West Point aboard the Pride of the Hudson.

$3595 per person double occupancy with single supplement of $495

Civil War: The Western Front
September 23 - 27, 2018
This “Atlanta Campaign” will begin, as it did for Sherman, in Chattanooga—the contentious, but also gorgeous, site of such engagements as Missionary Ridge and Lookout Mountain (also known as The Battle Above the Clouds). We will also tour nearby Chickamauga with expert guide Jim Ogden and walk the field where a near federal disaster almost prevented Sherman from undertaking the Atlanta Campaign at all. From there, we'll roll with Sherman and the Confederate defenders down through the mountains of North Georgia to Adairsville, site of the Great Locomotive Chase and another missed opportunity for the Confederates at the Battle of Adairsville. We will move toward the siege, fall, and burning of Atlanta itself. “Success to our arms at that instant was a political necessity,” Sherman said when he took the city. With Atlanta’s fall, Lincoln was reelected; Sherman’s war machine rolled onto the sea. With all due respect to Gettysburg, all Georgians should come and see where the American Civil War was really won and lost—in our own backyard.

$3,395 per person double occupancy | $495 single supplement | $750 per person deposit

Colonies & the Caribbean II: The Founding of English America: Privateers & Private Collections
Aboard Silversea's Silver Wind
January 14 - 21, 2019

The Colonies sat on the outer edge of a booming plantation complex that stretched across the Caribbean and drew heavily on that colorful region for much of its cultural and economic life. Privateering played an important role in the founding of the American Colonies. Walter Raleigh partially financed his Roanoke settlement by privateering expeditions against the Spanish, and it was no coincidence that Privateer Christopher Newport transported the first permanent colonists to Jamestown in 1607.  The power of empires in this era hinged on control of the seas rather than control of the land.

From the Great Houses of Barbados (George Washington’s home and St. Nicholas Abbey) to the black sand beaches of Montserrat, we will explore islands with a rich assortment of historical treasures, azure waters, beautiful beaches and lush rainforests.

Joining us again by popular demand on this NSCDA historical journey, The Colonies and the Caribbean  II, will be Dr. Michael Jarvis. Dr. Jarvis a renowned historian and master storyteller will join us each evening.

Emmaus Anglican Church Denver | Pilgrimage to the Holy Land
May 5 - May 17, 2019
 with Father Theron Walker
As we travel together, we will learn much from our Christian guide, we will enjoy rich times of worship, and your faith will be profoundly enriched and enlivened as you see the reality of the Bible. We will be there just after Easter, in early May. It will be spring, with warm weather but not yet the heat of summer, and the land will be in bloom.  This will be my third journey to the Land. I spent the summer of 1986 there as a college student, which changed the course of my life and ministry. I returned in 2016 as a pilgrim with many from my parish, Emmaus Anglican Church in Castle Rock, Colorado. This time, it will be my joy to be your pilgrimage leader, nourishing your mind and your spirit.
